...our garden

Well...this year we are starting our garden from seed. Last year was the first time I really did this and other than the fact I had my third little guy during the middle of the season...it was rather productive! I love starting vegetables from seed...I love for my kids to be apart of this process. I love that they get to see their food...start...to...finish! It is very important to me. I have learned that this can be a rather delicate process for some plants...mainly tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant. Or at least this has been my experience with gardening from seed. A few years ago I read Lasagna Gardening by Patricia Lanza and it started me on the the path to LOVING this whole season! If you love to garden and have never read this book...and especially if you live somewhere that to totally dig up your whole yard to make beds...is not happening...this book is for you! A very simple...step by step guide to starting your beds...and how to plant and which plants work well next to each other. So...this is the start to our garden this year. We have planted so far...potatoes, snap peas, cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, lettuces (several varieties), carrots, radishes, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and in our little greenhouse...several different squash plants and cucumbers! Yum! Stay tuned later in the season for some updated pictures...and maybe some of the food made with our yummy goodness!

Won’t you come into the garden? I would like my roses to see you. — ~Richard Brinsley Sheridan
(P.S...my climbing rose bush does want to see you...please come for a visit:)
