We are finishing our latest read today! James and the Giant Peach by Ronald Dahl...one of our favorites!!! Before reading this book we had seen the play in Asheville and also the movie. Sam was very concerned about the sharks in the book making him a little nervous as they did in the movie! This was good to talk about...creative license. I explained that in the book...it would be different and that when people make movies or plays. And that sometimes (a lot of time) they are very, very different than the book! He was okay with that...and so the adventure began! And he has fallen in LOVE!!! And I have fallen love all over again! I remember reading this as a little kid and loving it so much. It has been fun to watch the story unfold in Sam (and Zak's) creative little mind! Fun, fun, fun!!!
May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books, kiss someone who thinks your’re wonderful and don’t forget to make some art - write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.
